Chief's Welcome


	Since October of 2003, I have had the privilege of serving the residents of the Village of Republic as their Chief of Police. Since then, the face of the department has changed dramatically. We expanded our involvement in the community, broadened and re-established our base of relations with other police departments, the Courts and Social Service agencies in Seneca County and across the State of Ohio. We have significantly enhanced crime prevention and detection efforts through technology and training and scheduling, all the while constantly engendering a strong sense of professional teamwork throughout the members of the department and the Republic community. Basically our agency has undergone a metamorphosis by adding new equipment, developing new programs and initiatives, seeking out new funding sources, and institutionalizing community oriented policing as the common thread that runs throughout all of our agencies programs and services provided to the residents of the Village of Republic. Some hard and difficult decisions had to be made upon taking over command of the Republic Police Department and taking the "road less traveled" has been made much easier with the outstanding continued support of the Mayor and Council of the Village of Republic. Without their support the change that is seen and felt in the Republic Police Department would not be possible. Our road to technological excellence, upgrading equipment, and a fully trained and technically proficient officer is a slow, but gratifying process not only for the police department but also for the community as a whole. Each milestone has opened the door to new and exciting changes. Officers are getting more training, better pay, staying longer, and most importantly being seen more by the residents of the village. This new philosophy of the Republic Police Department is Community first, Department second and Officer third and this certainly is the reason for the success of the department in the last year. I am proud of the officers that work for the Village of Republic Police Department and their dedication and hard work that they put forth to institute this new change in philosophy.
